How do you choose to dress?

If someone were to ask you, ‘how do you choose to dress?’ would you know how to answer? For some, there would be no real way in which to respond as many men will blindly step into the same ensemble day in, day out, with no knowledge of the role that dress plays in their daily life. On the other hand, a select few gentlemen actively choose what they wear, carefully crafting and projecting an image to the outside world through the fashion selections and considerations that they make.

There is no escaping from the fact that outsiders will form an opinion of everyone they meet from the clothes that they wear, as we do with the appearance of food, the packaging of consumer goods and more. However, while a badly bruised apple has no say in the matter of how it is thought of, a person has the power to decide what the world makes of him.

Decades ago perhaps this was more apparent. In the 20’s, 30’s, 40’s and 50’s when no man with an essence of self-respect would ever leave the house without a smart and tailored suit. In these eras the social divides were much bigger, making the need to define one’s status through the clothes that were worn much stronger.  However, while these traditional conventions have now diminished in place of blurred boundaries and casual lifestyles, the impact that an outfit choice can make it still huge.

If you take time to truly consider and analyse the outfit you are wearing today, what messages is it projecting? Is it that you are cheap, lack an eye for the smaller details and quality means nothing to you? Or is it that you appreciate the value and work of true craftsmanship and honourable processes?

So now, armed with this knowledge, how will you choose to dress?

Do you follow the fast-fashion crowd, or are your clothes as refined and considered as your personality?
